When was the last time you had Carnitas? They are yummy!
Last week I shared a photo of Frank Goodyear's Sweeney's Beach photo from 1947. I found this picture at the museum last Saturday. My style is to post it on the YOU KNOW YOU ARE FROM ANTIOCH WHEN Facebook page... and wait for someone to fill in the blanks. Last week we had a photo of a neighborhood grocery store that was from the 50's. One person says it was here, another person swears it was over there and so on. The correct answer was found in Ralph Soliz's 1958 Contra Costa County phone book. The book was smaller than the East County phone book is now. The county was smaller and not many people had phones I imagine. I know when I was a kid we had a party line for awhile. For you young folks that means two families share the same phone number. You could pick it up expecting to make a call but someone was already using it.

The Pittsburg High School marching band is amazing. They will be playing again in the Christmas Parade this Saturday. I'm taking my little trumpeting 4th grade grandson to the parade this year to see how the big boys do it. They are a joy to see. I look forward to sharing the experience with him and then it's on for cheeseburgers.
