I had my first cup of tortilla soup this week. It tasted fresh and was very good $4.15 cup. I see lots of people eating a big bowl of this with chicken as a meal. I'm certain it's healthy. But I have to have some beans at Celia's. I think they are critical and Celia's has the best.

Who Remembers This Store In South Antioch?
I found this treasure yesterday at the Antioch Historical Society Museum. I posted it late on the YOU KNOW YOU ARE FROM ANTIOCH page on Facebook and I'm waiting for confirmation on the what and when questions. Cherie Cole says it's the building @ 16th & G St's. Formerly Mackey's, Lee's Snack Bar, etc., near Antioch High School depending on your vintage. I like that answer and will wait for confirmation before we proclaim it. I like the "steps to nowhere" and the Wonder Bread logo on the bottom panel of the doors. The steps probably helped a little corn husker order an ice cream through a service window in an earlier life. See the HD VERSION. Here is a rare photo of Clarks Grocery Store, 19th and D St., notice the gas pump. I guess people just parked on the street and got their gas back then. This picture is for Frank Goodyear enjoy.

Delta Gallery Of The Arts
Jack Gaughan talking to some art customers at the Delta Art Gallery recently @ The Streets of Brentwood Shopping Center. Open since the beginning of the year the gallery offers 8-9 new gallery shows a year. Mostly local artists are on display. Jack is adamant that artists in Rio Vista think of themselves as having the right east county spirit. There is art from other artist's in the Bay Area but most of it is all locally grown. Delta Art Gallery is participating in this weekends' Contra Costa Open Studios Show. Visit studios of east county artists this weekend. Watch many at work. It was a cold, wet, windy, November morning. My fingers were the color of an over ripe eggplant. I sat by the fireplace like a brain dead moth attracted to the flame and ordered cognac. It was 7am, the morning news was helping to heat me up, and then like a ray of sunshine she asked me the question, the same question she has asked me a thousand times, like a well oiled machine "how about another big boy?" and I smiled, like a young boy and said yes.
