Potatoe Barge Restaurant 1974-'79
Lucile P. Meinhardt posted this photo on YKYFAW (You Know You Are From Antioch When) this week. The restaurant owner's Shannon & Ron Nadeau opened the 2nd & F St. downtown Antioch restaurant and bar in late 1975. They featured fondue, poor man martini's (draft beer with green olives), belly dancing and dinner theatre. This was a very eclectic group serving good food. The photo reminds me of Monty Python. It was very popular and sorely missed. I have know idea why they closed.

"The Porch" at Mac's Old House. I have spent many hours here. It's what people do while they wait for a table. Get there 30 minutes before you are starving, drink cheap drinks, talk to your neighbors, relax and when the hostess calls your name your ready. Tip, if you're there when the dining room opens @ 5 PM you can get in and out most days pretty fast. BTW Jack is back at Mac's. Please drink responsibly.

People in Kansas will never see this. The waterways, it's one of the nice things about living in East County. I'm always pleased to watch one of these ships travel down the river like this one did last Saturday. See how shipping has changed in 300 years.
