Support Your Local Community Museum
I have lived in East County since 1967. I have lived in Antioch, Byron, Oakley and Pittsburg. I consider East County my home.
As I get older and things change it's nice to visit places that helps me remember the way things were, the things I wasn't paying attention to as a kid. I have been to the, Pittsburg Museum, East Contra Costa Historical Museum in Brentwood and Antioch Historical Museum.
All museums are staffed by docents (volunteers). The museums are free to visit. They do have operating budgets and need support to stay open and free. There are many ways to help, donate a few hours a week, month or a year, gift a historical artifact, attend a fundraising event or simply write a check.
Visit the museum closest to your heart. Chat with the people working there. Express your willingness to help.
