Southern Express Soul Food

Linda, a teller at Bank of Agriculture (where I bank), asked me if I had been to the new Southern Express Soul Food restaurant. I admitted that I hadn't. Not understanding what "soul food" is I was hesitant. Good thing I was more hungry than I was hesitant. I headed there immediately. The setup was very casual but neat. The menu was hard to find. I could see everything was being served cafeteria style (food served from trays, under glass, so I could "eat-with-my-eyes" first). The Salisbury patty looked good as well as the mashed potatoes and gravy. So a "Basket Serving" is one meat + 1 side + cornbread... $5.99. It was pretty good. I can see myself stopping by regularly. I do like mashed potatoes and gravy and it's close to where I live. The potatoes were fresh because they had lumps in them, just like momma made, fine with me.
