I know this artist and yet I don't. The first time I saw this artist's work was on a wall at Hugo's in Antioch. It's a scene from the movie Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart. I like the style, boldness and relevance to the setting. That artwork had no artist signature, website, phone number etc. that I could find. The other day I saw this mural. It's located behind the buildings on the 100 block of "G" St. in downtown Antioch. If you want to see this yourself, there is a parking lot on the east side of the street. Go there. You can't miss it. Does anyone recognize this artist? If you look closely you can read the words "Paint For Food." Nothing on the web for that. I will go back soon and scour this again for "disguised" contact info. I not only think this is a talented artist, with a wry sense of humor, but they are very clever to boot. I'm trying to find the owner of the building, I suspect they would know.

The ANTIOCH PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB had it's first Photo Contest. The group met on the SUMMER SOLSTICE, the longest day of the year and the first day of summer, Monday, June 20th. Our host was Rodney Lal, PRIME VINTAGE REALTY. Gary Noe, Mac's Old House Restaurant and I awarded gift certificates to the winners. Thanks to everyone who entered the contest. This is a very subjective exercise. The decision was difficult. We will do this again. There are no losers here just people who haven't one yet.
If you enjoy photography you might consider joining our club. It's free. There is a nice mix of beginners, serious hobbyists and talented professionals. Future PHOTO OPS include a visit to the WETLANDS, VINTAGE CAR SHOW, starry night visit to MT DIABLO, passage sail aboard the HAWAIIAN CHIEFTAN, and my personal favorite girls competing on skates ROLLER DERBY in colorful outfits. The link above is to a facebook page about the club. If you have questions call me (925) 325-0934.
