I love this old picture Antioch photo and it's history. You can tell these F.O.E. members were feeling fine when this photo was taken. The year was 1914 the image sharp and clear. I bank at the Bank of Agriculture. The "A" St., office has a wall size wallpaper image of this photo in the lobby. I can't help but notice it when I am in there. I would love to see more Antioch photos from this unidentified photographer. Part of the Antioch Historic Photo Exhibit Display this month at the museum.

The first time I saw the name Jost Distillery was on an old city map dating back to the 1890's. The site was near where the "A" St., cannery was, near the waterfront. Nice building, whiskey kegs and plenty of able looking whiskey makers. I would like to know more about this effort and why it no longer exists. If I find something out I will pass it along.

This photo was taken just 7 years after Custer's Last Stand. They actually look like they are wearing something that might have been worn around the time of the civil war. The quality of the image is pretty good. Check out the HD VERSION or better still stop by the museum before the exhibit is over.

This was Miami Beach for most people in Antioch back in the day. Boat launch, roller rink, cabins to rent and a beach to frolic on. I've lived in this town almost 50 years now and I never heard of this place until last year. Thank you Frank Goodyear for the heads up. This photo is for you.

I've known Jeanette for almost 30 years. Cute as a bugs ear is the expression. She cut my hair for years. She had two beauty shops, two cars and a nice house. She could cook like the dickens and liked to put on a great party. She did things her way. Right up to the end she wanted no help, no advise, from anyone. She walked her own path. God bless her.
