Who Do You Love, Tolstoy, Bronte, Dickens, or George Thorogood? What Does It All Mean?
Why do we write? Why do some writers write in a way that scholars can't agree on it's true meaning? This absolutely drives me crazy. The pupose of writing for me is communication
and generally I want to do this as simply and as succintly as I can. I love our language, I don't use it very well, but I'm still trying to be perfectly clear. Let's play a game. Click on the George Thorogood photo and listen to the song "Who Do You Love".
The lyrics are there for you to read as you listen. I want to know if I'm just not enough of an artist to get the message of this song? Do we have some SPOTLIGHT artists' who will listen to the song and tell me in their own words what
this song is all about? I'll share these interpretations with a local writing club and we'll choose a winner. The winner gets their writing featured in an upcoming SPOTLIGHT and of course a $25 Gift Certificate to a local restaurant.
