Hawaiian Chieftain Antioch, Calif. -- The tall ship ship Hawaiian Chieftain will visit Antioch Dec. 11-18 and offer public tours and sailings from the Antioch City Marina. Hawaiian Chieftain is an interpretation of a typical early 19th-century South Seas trading vessel, and it sails to more than 50 ports a year offering living history education programs to K-12 students, as well as the general public. Here's the ship's schedule:

12/10: Depart Sacramento, arrive Antioch City Marina.
12/11-14: Walk-on tours, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. No reservation required, but $3 donation requested.
12/15-16: Walk-on tours, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. No reservation required, but $3 donation requested.
12/15-16: Adventure Sail, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. $39 all ages.
12/18: Walk-on tours, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. No reservation required, but $3 donation requested.
12/19: Depart Antioch for San Pedro.

An Adventure Sail is a three-hour family-oriented experience that features a chance for guests to learn a sea shanty, hear maritime stories, help raise a sail, and take the wheel of a real tall ship, conditions permitting. Tickets are $39 for all ages, and they may be purchased online at www.historicalseaport.org or by calling 800-200-5239. Early reservations are strongly recommended.
