Werner Ganz International Sausage Shop

This photo was taken in 1977 when the shop was on "D" St., in Antioch. I actually go back with Werner about 10 years before this when the shop was located on Walter Way. My favorite sandwich was linguica. I think it was about a $1.25. That was big money when you were only making $80 a week.

Antioch High School 8 Pittsburg High School 0

I felt like I was going to a USC game. Had to park blocks away. From a distance I could see the elevated camera platforms. People were coming from all over for this game. This is big time. This is an event. It was carried live on the Bleacher Report channel. This is big! This is the "82nd Little Big Game, Antioch High vs Pittsburg High.

The first possession of the game was the high point of the day for the AHS Panther's. They marched down the field, scored a touchdown and made a two point coversion to take the lead. After that it was all downhill as they went on to lose to the Pirates 61-35. The Panthers can't seem to stop anybody this year. If the other team has holes in their defense maybe Antioch can outscore them and win.

The Panther's finished the season 6-4. They will be playing San Ramon Valley Wolves Friday Nov 11th at home @ 7:00 PM in the NCS/Les Schwab Tires Football Championship Tournament. Should the Panthers prevail they will host a second home game next week.

I've enjoyed watching Antioch running back Najee Harris, the number #1 bay area rushing yards leader of all time run. He is a joy to watch AND a nice kid. I wish him nothing but success. I will watch him every chance I get. If you haven't seen him run stop by Friday.

Talk about bargain entertainment. Free parking, $5 senior ticket admission, three delicious street tacos $5 and $1 for a bottle of water. How can you beat high school football entertainment value?

Congratulation to the BVAL winning Freedom High Falcons of Oakley. They were undefeated this year going 10-0. Today they are ranked #7 in California. Quite a feat. Good luck in the Open Division Playoffs.
