Big Ships & Power Boats in Antioch

DELTA THUNDER POWER BOATS raced Sunday in Antioch. Event goers also witnessed a big ship turning. I believe this is one of the ships from Korea that brings steel to the Pittsburg Posco plant to be milled and sold in the USA. It is quite a sight to see if you happen to be in downtown Antioch when one of these occurs. Photo by Beverly Knight.

Apples are the pick of the week. A medium sized fresh apple provides the total antioxidant activity of 1500 milligrams of vitamin C, and is full of potassium and fiber? Hence the old adage, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Check out your farmers' market to explore the tastes and textures of locally-grown heirloom varieties. Powerboat Racing in Antioch Last Sunday

How cool was that? Racers came from all over the state to race in Antioch. Yes, that's Humphrey's in the background. Longtime Antioch resident, Frank Lozano, Inland Marine, organized the event. I've known Frank for many years and he is a good person and business man. I look forward to DELTA THUNDER 2 next year. Thanks, Beverly Knight for use of this photo.

Peggy

Peggy Gave Me Quite A Scare

Tuesday night just before the Giant's game Peggy got a sharp pain in her abdomen. I knew instantly this was a hospital visit. We went to Sutter Delta and 8 hours later we knew she was going to have surgery. She was transferred to John Muir Hospital in Concord in the middle of the night. 7AM the following morning, yesterday, she went into surgery. The doctors told us this was an exploratory surgery and that there were four possible procedures each more dreadful than the first. The next two hours were the longest two hours of my life. I had know idea what was going on, you just sit, wait and worry. Thank God the doctor was happy with option #1, the less invasive, best possible outcome we could get. I can't tell you how much I love this gal. She makes me smile so many times a day I can't count them all. Everybody that knows Peggy loves her. I'm a lucky man and I have known it for 30 years.

There is a special place in heaven for all the people who work in hospitals. One internal medicine surgeon at Sutter Delta drove up from Livermore at 2 AM in the morning just to see if he could help. When we met the surgeons at John Muir I felt like we got the A-Team. We were as confident as you could be that we got skilled and ready for the task ahead doctors. Thanks to all at Delta Memorial and John Muir for all your help. Forever more you will be in our daily prayers thank you.
