Oakley, CA amphitheater

Amphitheater Stage, Main St., Oakley

What a great job Oakley did building this facility. Not only do they have a well built stage, with permanent lighting and lots of power, but it has a dance floor in front for the "boogey-ers." The outer perimeter of the "park" has two, well shaded, picnic areas under huge oak trees probably a 100 years old. I'd love to see the band "Papa Doo Run Run" do a return engagement (in Oakley) here. Looking forward to hearing some good music here soon.

"Historic Photo" of the Week

Wyatt St., Antioch. Became 2nd St. Circa 1920

Photo courtesy of Frank Goodyear, 1961 Antioch High School graduate and co-administrator at YKYFAW. I have not seen this photo before. I believe this photo was taken from on top the Masonic building, 2nd & G St. looking west. It's nice to romanticize about the past and bemoan the present but I think we are living in the best of times.

Mango Splash @ Cre-Asians, Pittsburg

I have a friend who goes goo goo over this Vietnamese restaurant. Now, they have a 2nd location in downtown Pittsburg (across the street from Lumpy's). I've been to the Lone Tree location I say "meh "(why bother). These places always have 250 items on the menu. Yesterday my friend ordered salt 'n pepper chicken, again. I don't get it, the chicken is dried out and looks tired. They give you a bowl of salt and pepper dipping sauce, I presume it's to add moisture and flavor to the chicken. She says "that's the way it's supposed to be." I ordered a seafood salad. The seafood was heated and added to the lettuce mix. The result was soggy salad. I ate this fast trying to stay ahead in the soggy salad race. The dressing was OK but I would not order this again. The Mango Splash was OK. I always order a specialty cocktail when the beers run $5. I feel better about paying $7 or $8 for something different than $5 for ordinary. I will try this place again. I hope I land on a winner next time. Take a look at CRE-ASIANS menu and choose wisely.

A forty year tradition in Antioch. Quite possibly East County's best salad bar, beautiful dining room and spacious banquet room make this restaurant a large family, sports team, and club gathering place. Serving beer & wine. Open 7 days for lunch & dinner.

I love the lunch special, salad bar, pizza, soda about $8. Brentwood has a WIFI nice.

I knocked a WATER glass over on my desk last night. When the machine went dark I thought it was toast. I went to my backup Windows 7 machine. What a nightmare. 4 hours later I had it up and running (It was only a month ago that I went through dozens of upgrades). Now I know why I went to a chromebook. Instant on, no upgrading, no taking over the machine when it wants to. Pretty much trouble free as long as you don't spill water on it. Then I discovered the most important thing. It's not the cost of a new machine that's the pain in the butt, its all the bookmarks, quick links and passwords. Backup your stuff. Have a 2nd chromebook standing by. $250 is cheap insurance. BTW the machine restarted. I dodged a bullet.
